Jon Worham's excellent site with recent photographs of all the island's railways is a must for transport enthusiasts.  Jon has very kindly allowed us to reproduce some of the images from this site and we are grateful to him for his support.  His site is regularly updated with transport photographs.

The site of the Manx Transport Museum Group who occupy a hangar at Jurby Airfield where can be found a collection of buses and other items of local transport including the sole surviving Douglas Cable Car, a selection of cars from the Douglas Horse Tramway and a wide variety of other items.

 

 

 

This is the site of our member John Boyes' who operates an online g-scale model shop with some I.M.R. models, including an excellent version of Caledonia and a rake of four-wheel and “pairs” coaches.  New products are added regularly to this site, and he operates our own shop at Lhen Coan on the Groudle Glen Railway, with some of his own stock on sale.

 

This is our sister site and has some information on the Supporters' Association's own railway, on which work began back in 1982 following many successful years of active involvement on the Isle Of Man Railway.  The details of how this project came to be are viewable in the “Groudle” menu at the top of this website.

 

A general site dedicated to all potential visitors to the Isle of Man this site details all the major tourist attractions including pages for all the island’s railways as well as accommodation guides, transport details and much more besides.  There are also several historical pages and dedicated places to visit detailing facilities at all the island’s towns and villages.

With all the current timetables for island buses, trains and electric tram service, this site is operated by the railway and buses division, detailing public announcements, times of Bus Vannin services, railway and tramway services and general information for the travelling public.  Its notice board section is well worth a look to see the latest goings on.

 

One of the island's newest railways, operated by the Laxey & Lonan Heritage Trust, this website details the operating times, history and restoration of one of the island's most interesting lines, originally built in conjunction with the Laxey Mines; the line runs to the foot of the famous Lady Isabella, the world-renowned Laxey Wheel.

 

This excellent site has a section featuring photographs on the Isle of Man and its railways, dating back as early as the 1950s in some cases; it has proved to be a valuable reference point in the creation of this site and offers the visitor a wide range of railway-related photographs as well as extensive views of the island’s bus fleet of yesteryear.

 

The official website of the Manx Electric Railway Society, established in 1973 to oversee the electric line, the counterpart of the Supporters’ Association.  It houses many informative articles and photo galleries as well as details of Manx Transport Review, the group’s own periodical covering all aspects of island transport from road and rail to the sea and air services.

 

This is the website of the group who are restoring 1873 coach C.1 at the easterly end of the site of Peel Station.  The coach is available for public viewing and the group are also responsible for a small public display area situated in the old water tower, one of the last remaining railway buildings in the city.  It is situated nearby the House Of Mannanan visitor centre, itself incorporating a number of old railway buildings.

 

Local news and information from the site of Isle of Man Newspapers, this site is an online news facility operated in conjunction with the Isle Of Man Examiner and the Manx Independent newspapers.  In addition to news pages if offers classifieds, right-to-reply sections and events galleries.
