The last train of the year on the railway departed Douglas Station at 11.20am on Wednesday 30th December hauled by No. 10 G.H. Wood and a five-coach train for the journey to Castletown Station, returning at 2.30pm. The event, advertised as the Blow Away The Cobwebs special was well patronised with over 160 people travelling and it is encouraging to see these out-of-season trains being used by locals and visitors alike. 2010 promises to see more of these initiatives on both the railway and the Manx Electric and Snaefell Mountain lines. For now though, the railway will remain closed until the season commences on 13th March 2010.
