On the evening of Saturday 31st October 2009 the railway ran its first ever Hop-Tu-Naa Ghost Train, departing Douglas Station at 6.30pm bound for Castletown where a guided ghost walk of the town was provided. Some 240 people travelled on the six-coach train which was hauled by No. 12 Hutchinson, carrying a suitable headboard and carved-out turnip for the ocassion. Upon return to Douglas passengers were provided with a hot pot supper and a marquee was erected in the station forecourt to accomodate travellers. Many of the passengers chose to wear fancy dress to enter into the spirit of the ocassion - even the train's guard appeared in a pumpkin outfit! Following the Santa Trains there will also be a special excursion on 30th December, again to Castletown, when the railway will invite people to Blow Away The Cobwebs following the excess of the festive season. Further details will appear on this site in due course.
