Home News 2009 G.H. Wood Is On The Turn . . .

As part of the Manx Heritage Transport Festival No. 10 "G.H. Wood" of 1905 was turned to face chimney first into Douglas and operated service trains for the period.  This led to some unusual views, most certainly the passing of trains at Colby Station especially with “Caledonia” doing the honours at the head of the other train.  The weather didn’t dampen the occasion and visiting enthusiasts were out in force to see both the Manx Northern Railway locomotive in service and the unusual sight of two trains in the sleepy rural station at one time.  Add to this No. 10 being “wrong way” and it made for some unique photographic opportunities to be had.  Our photographer here is member Jonathan Cook and we take this opportunity to thank him for providing many different views of the festival, some of which will appear both on this site and in subsequent issues of Manx Steam Railway News as time and space permits.
