The summer timetable for 2009 has been announced by the railway, and consists of largely the same pattern as 2008 but with a curtailed service between 28th September and 1st November with only the ex-Douglas train in service. After some consideration to the schools' half term week in October having the "full" service the management decided to run just the two each way a day service. In addition to this change, the commuter trains will operate once more over the T.T. practice and race weeks with the exception of Senior Race Day which is a public holiday on the island. Services will commence in the week leading up to the Easter Break with the full service. All trains will pass at Ballasalla as has become commonplace in recent years.
The timetable for the Manx Electric Railway has also been announced with some cutbacks once again this year; the notable deletion initially was the loss of the evening shuttle service to tie-in with the popular Tuesday/Wednesday night services on the Groudle Glen Railway but happily we can reveal that this will be not only retained, but a joint ticketing initiative between the two railways will be put in place, whereby "through" tickets can be obtained either from Derby Castle at the time of travel, or in advance from the Welcome Centre located in the Sea Terminal. It is hoped that this trial period will prove successful and be continued through to the 2010 season as these services form a vital part of the Supporters' Association-owned railway in Groudle Glen with a source of major income. These additional services will also be advertised jointly.
