Home News 2010 Transport Museum Set For Easter Opening

After much hard work by the Manx Transport Trust the island's first dedicated transport museum will open its doors to the public on Saturday 3rd April when it will be officially opened by the island's Chief Minister Tony Brown M.H.K.  Whilst the contents are predominantly road vehicles, there are some rail-based exhibits including the re-built cable car from the Upper Douglas Tramway, the Lisbon Tram purchased by the railway in 1999 and three cars from the Douglas Horse Tramway.  The group have also found outdoor space for the Queen's Pier locomotive and trailer and is a credit to them that these historical items are now been taken care of and that they will be visible to the viewing public, in some cases for the first time in many years.  The poster above details the group's website where progress can be followed, and the contact e-mail address.  Everyone at the Supporters' Association wishes them well with their new venture.
