Home News 2010 The Final Train Service Of 2010

Thursday 30th December saw the final service of 2010 when No. 12 Hutchinson hauled the five coach Blow Away The Cobwebs train from Douglas to Castletown and return.  The train was well patronised with over 150 taking the opportunity to travel, the four-coach train consisting of F.46-F.49 being bolstered by F.39 in the event.  The train departed Douglas Station slightly later than advertised at 11.28am and arrived in Castletown at 12.00pm; after taking water the train returned to the terminus non-stop leaving at 2.30pm as advertised.  This service brought to a close the 2010 operating season and was the last railway service to operate on the island this year.  The first service of 2011 will be operated by the Groudle Glen Railway on New Years' Day when an additional Mince Pie Train service will operated between 11.00am and 3.30pm, giving the public another opportunity to blow away some more cobwebs!  It has been another successful season for the railway with a number of new initiatives having proved popular and this will be built upon in 2011.  We would like to take this opportunity to wish everyone a Happy New Year from everyone at the Isle of Man Steam Railway Supporters' Association.
