Home News 2010 New Manx Northern Railway Book

Another new book on the island's railways is set to hit bookshelves in September 2010 and will focus on the stations of the Manx Northern Railway.  It takes the format similar to our own Manx Steam Railway News and features the paintings of well-known local artist Michael Starkey with accompanying words from historian and Supporters' Association member Julian Edwards.  It has been supported by the Manx Heritage Foundations and will hit the shelves shortly.

The book contains a brief history of the Manx Northern as well as a route map, and focuses on the stations along the line starting with the headquarters at Ramsey Station.  Each of the stations and crossings are covered, complimented by a painting of the station in question.  Much attention to detail has been paid to the colour schemes of the stations and environs, evoking memories of the northern line in its heyday.

The retail price has yet to be agreed but it will be available from all the usual local stockists and hopefully from the railway's own retail outlets.  It is also hoped to produce a range of postcards featuring some of the artwork contained therein.  As soon as it becomes avaiable notification will be posted on this site and a full review will appear in the forthcoming edition of Manx Steam Railway News which is due to go to press at the end of September 2010.
