Home News 2010 Evening Charter Train Well-Patronised

The evening of Saturday 17th April saw a charter train service in connection with a visiting party from the Campaign For Real Ale (C.A.M.R.A.); departing Douglas Station at 6.00pm the train proceeded to Castletown where there was a long stop for travellers to enjoy the fine hostelries of the southern town as well as photograph the train, which did several run-pasts at the station before taking water.  The train consisted of No. 12 Hutchinson with four coaches (F.46, F.47, F.48 and half-brake F.49) and departed for Port Erin at 8.10pm where there was a further layover until 9.50pm when the train returned non-stop, save for a comfort stop at Castletown Station for five minutes.  The spirited run back to the terminus saw No. 12 and her train arrive back for about 10.45pm.  The event was well patronised and the excellent early spring weather made for a pleasant evening for all concerned.  The party were on the island for their annual general meeting and also enjoyed an excursion on the Manx Electric Railway the previous day.  The season continues on the four-train timetable, with no trains running on 19th, 20th, 26th and 27th.  After this the next event is Rush Hour which takes place over the holiday weekend, details of which are available here.
