Prior to the amalgamation of all lines in 1904 there were in fact three stations at St. John's and this one served the Foxdale Railway, being linked to the through St. John's-Ramsey line later on. The station building which remains today as a private dwelling, was, after closure, the residence of railway stalwart George Crellin. The station comprised a loop line and siding, watering facilities (seen to the left of our view, sans the metal water tank!) and station building. The line to Foxdale passed under the road via an underbridge in the centre of the picture (not very clear) and climbed around and above the Isle of Man Railway Co. station on an embankment before passing over the railway at the easterly end. It remains the only railway-related building in St. John's, although not used for the purpose for a great number of years.
