F.36 has been responsible for the carriage of every royal visitor to the railway up until 1993 (subsequent visits by Prince Edward in 2002 and the Duke Of Gloucester in 2011 have used F.35). Unique firstly for carrying the crowned heads of the country, it is also the last of the saloons to still retain its original reversible seating in the third class saloon which is in the Port Erin end of the coach. These seats although not the most comfortable of the line's rolling stock, were much more practical than the fixed seat later added to all the other members of the class (with the notable exception of F.35) whose legroom was, and still is very poor indeed.
Still carrying the red and cream livery of the Railway Company (as opposed to the current fleet which have been re-painted into a variation on this scheme) she remains on public display in the museum at Port Erin where she has been since it opened in 1975. Prior to this, and ocassionally after incarceration, the coach was removed for use by the travelling public at an additional fee. Thanks to the campaigning of the Supporters' Association this practice was discontinued when F.36 was shunted and placed behind F.75 in the museum, thus ensuring it could not easily be removed for use. It last moved in 1998 when the museum was emptied for rebuilding, and spent a summer at Douglas Station on display during the Steam 125 events.
