Of the liveries detailed below, the saloon coaches carried the standard purple lake and white lined livery from delivery in 1905 until it was replaced by the more utilitarian allover brown scheme which was retained until the post-war red and cream livery was introduced. This was applied to all six saloons at the time and retained until 1972 when five of the six (the Royal Saloon F.36 being the exception) were partially rebuilt and then carried an allover bright red livery the same as that carried by the island's buses. This remained until 1980 when three saloons (F.31, F.32 and F.35) were converted into the Bar Set and carried another livery (again akin to the bus colours) of red and white which was retained until 1992 when the fleet livery of purple lake was again applied, returning them to original appearance. They have, since 2001 carried a variation on the post-war livery and all remain in this today, with F.36 still carrying her 1972 paintwork in the Railway Museum at Port Erin.
