The station in terms of its use as the terminus of the Foxdale Railway actually pre-dates the arrival of the railway by some two years!  When it was decided to construct the line (the company being formed in 1880 initially) the forward-thinking Manx Northern Railway relocated its St. John’s station here.To this end, the station building and single platform were constructed inreadiness for the arrival of the line.Ultimately, the trains approaching from the north went straight into St. John’s “proper” (I.M.R.) station after the merger in 1904, making this station something of an oddity in itself. It did however remain “open” to all intents and purposes, until the line’s ultimate closure. After this, it lay empty until being bought by station master George Crellin who saw out his retirement in the building.Today it remains a private residence.
