| This coach, with its higher capacity owing to the lack of guards' compartment or luggage van space saw much service in company days and was looked after, receiving minor bodywork attention as required throughout its working life. It remains in the service fleet having been rarely out of service since delivery in 1881. The accompanying image shows the coach in open storage at Douglas Station in 1991 with the 1936-built well wagon in the foreground. Until the new carriage shed was constructed in 1999 the service fleet remained in open storage like this each winter. The coach to the right is the recently rebuilt F.9. |
