Home Douglas Terminus Water Tower & Stores (1900)

Behind the stores building and parallel to the plant shop is the station water tower which once boasted the impressive signal gantry on its side until a bus was maliciously driven into it during the tenure of William Jackson's reign as transport executive.  The remains of the bracket are visible today and the green-painted cast tanks are also extant although unused for many years.  Beneath, in the local stone-built edifice is housed the workshop staff toilets and shower facilities, added during the early years of nationalisation.  This building can be viewed from the right side of the passing train when leaving the station and is not publicly accessible.
