Home Acknowledgements

In the creation of the website the Supporters' Association owes a debt of gratitude to a number of individuals and organisations and we are happy to acknowledge using their sources here. This site has been in the making for some considerable time and the vast majority of its content has been down to one person alone, the editor of our magazine Grant Taylor who has dedicated many hours to its content and sourcing. This prolific content would not have been possible without various people.

Firstly, the superb work of Jon Worham of Island Images have been invaluable; thanks are due to his allowing us to reproduce many of his excellent photographs of recent times on our site and we heartily recommend a visit to his site too, as it has many more up to date views of all the island's railways and lots more besides! His section entitled Manx Stockbook has been particularly useful as the site has been pieced together, more accurately the articles on the locomotives and rolling stock.

Secondly, and by way of explanation, much of the initial text source is derived from that erstwhile site Wikipedia although it must be pointed out that many of the initial articles added about the railway were completed by us in any case! By their very nature we cannot stake claim to all the content that has been used and/or expanded from this site, as anybody can register and amend articles, add photos and the like. For this reason we have not used any photographs that appear there.

Thanks are also due to John Kilgallon of Wimanx who set the site up initially and did all the programming and other technical specifications that are beyond us mere enthusiasts! He tolerated many hours of questions from a layman and got the site up and running in the first place; he also was instrumental in making the appearance of the site as it is, when all he had for direction was fingers pointing at the screen and "make that bit go over there" for instruction - but he was richly rewarded with beer!

Some of the older photographs on the site are from the collection of the late Alastair Lamberton, stalwart of this association and if any images from his collection that are otherwise copyrighted are not treated as such we again apologise. Similarly there are images from back-issues of Manx Steam Railway News that could indeed belong to person or persons unknown but we have tried in every case to credit these photographs to the respective person. Please get in touch if a photo we have used is yours!

Special thanks must also go to Douglas Robinson, the knowledgable historian of all things I.M.R. whose assistance in proof reading and helping with dates, corrections and amendments continues to be invaluable.  This encyclopaedic knowledge of even the smallest details of the subject matter is ensuring that the site builds up gradually to hopefully one day become the ultimate online resource on the railway.

There are further source acknowledgements on the bibliography page, for the "nuts and bolts" of the facts presented in the text of this site and, of course, if anybody has been missed out we apologise! We are more than happy to right any wrongs and add or remove pieces of information and/or photographs as necessary. Please contact the site manager whose details appear on the contacts page of this website if you have any queries or questions regarding content, accuracy or any other matter.
